Photography ClassesMaggie Walker offers a variety of options to study photography. Open to students in any grade and with no pre-requisite, Art Photography helps students use tradition black and white film and darkroom techniques, color photography, and art skills such as sculpting, to create expressive pieces. VCU Dual/Basic Darkroom Photography covers photo history and theory, basic and advanced camera operation, film processing, and darkroom practice which equips the student with solid photo image making skills while they earn 3 hours of VCU credit. Students who want to expand on what they learn in VCU Dual can then take Commercial Photography where they will learn about studio lighting and constructing imagery for the camera. Finally, Seniors can choose Photojournalism in the Digital Age to meet the seminar/internship requirement. There is no prerequisite for this course that focuses on the story telling possibilities of the medium.
